New Finds

Bright multicoloured and pastel multicoloured distressed, high-waisted, vintage Levi’s denim shorts. Cigarette case with two vintage Vogue covers. Just a few things I picked up at the coolest luxury vintage store downtown. I’m wearing the pastel shorts today to see Snoop Dogg – so excited!

Glimpse

Just a glimpse into what I wore today for a sunny date downtown. Check back tomorrow for more pictures!

Venice Diary

Top – Lucca Couture | Shorts – Urban Outfitters | Chiffon Button-Up – American Apparel | Bag – Rebecca Minkoff | Watch – Michael Kors | Ring – Tiffany & Co. | Sunglasses – Versace | Flip flops – Havaianas

Super casual outfit for a super casual walk up and down the Venice boardwalk – there’s literally never a dull moment on Venice Beach. Everywhere you turn there are rows and rows of the cutest and most unique beach houses, the sketchiest or funniest people, and tons of beautiful handiwork for sale. I love this place and its vibe… I’ll definitely miss it when I move!

And no, your eyes don’t deceive you. Those are in fact red and blue velvet pancakes with cream cheese frosting and walnuts. They was amazing. It was like having dessert for breakfast.

Happy Mother’s Day!

No words. P’Trique said it all.

I always tell her to buy stuff, because I know I will inherit it.

This Just Happened

When I visited the Teen Vogue offices in New York earlier this year and met with the beautiful Laurel Pantin who used to be the Assistant Beauty Editor there, she was wearing running shoes. I never thought runners could be incorporated into a chic outfit but that day Laurel showed me that it could be done. Then I started seeing more and more of my favourite New York fashion editors including Shiona Turini, the Accessories Director at Teen Vogue, rock colourful Nikes even in the office. With my internship and permanent move to New York in June, I knew I had to get my hand on a pair of super bright, neon, and obnoxious Nikes for walking the whole city comfortably in. Hence, these. If anybody knows where I can recycle my very loved but old white Nike Shox please let me know. They’re gorgeous too but they’re a few years old and they’ve been to South America and back with me so they’re ready for running shoe heaven. These new babies will be perfect for the gym and running around New York in! Notice the extra pink laces in the first picture. I’m switching them in because these shoes need to be that much more conspicuous.

Anna Dello Russo at H&M

When I found out about this collaboration which was announced a few days ago I was so excited. I mean! Anna Dello Russo, Fashion Director at Vogue Japan and huge fashion icon, has teamed up with H&M to launch her own accessories line that will include sunglasses, jewelry, miniaudières, and shoes that will launch in stores on October 4th, 2012. You can bet that I’ll be lining up at an H&M in New York for this one. I love Anna Dello Russo. I love accessories more than anything. This is a no brainer. I can’t wait until they release more pictures of the collection!

Accessorization is essential. It is the personal touch to any outfit… turning an ordinary day into a fantastic fashion day.

Sydney Fashion Week 2012

Photo credit: Tommy Ton for Style.com

I’m loving these street looks from Sydney Fashion Week from a while ago and I’m dying to try the high-waisted skirt or pants worn with a bralette look that one of my favourite fashion bloggers Nicole is sporting. I’ve never been to Australia but I have a very close family friend who lives there and I’m just begging him to marry his new girlfriend so I have go to their wedding and finally get to visit. I’m rooting for him. Hey, 22 isn’t too young…

Fashion aside, I’m sorry I haven’t been posting for a while – I’ve just finished all my midterms. I also have to accommodate three visits from out-of-towners (and act as their tour guide and host), sell my car and all my other things, sublease my apartment, pack up my life, and ship everything box by box to my new home in New York. Amidst this chaos I’m also going to have to deal with term papers and final exams in about a month. Oh, and my birthday is on June 14th, the middle of everything. How inconvenient. I’ll probably be waist deep in packing and studying; I refuse to acknowledge I’m about to begin my second decade of living anyways so let’s just all forget about my upcoming birthday and I can go on being happy and 19. Sound good? Also, like my new banner?

Please bear with me and the inevitable lack of posts for the next month or so… but you have my word that I’ll be launching a series called Seventeen Magazine Intern Diaries where I’ll do posts here and there about my adventures in the Seventeen Magazine fashion closet this summer. Stay tuned! I can’t wait to get started :).

Perfume On the Go

Hello everyone! As some of you may know, I travel quite often and love my perfumes. I discovered Travalo’s perfume atomizers about a year ago, bought a couple, and now I never take original perfume bottles out of my house. Whether it be carrying perfume in my purse or in my carry-on luggage, I always use my Travalo. It’s small, abides by airline carry-on regulations, carries 50 sprays, doesn’t leak, works extremely well, and doesn’t require any equipment or skill to use. To my knowledge, these atomizers come in many different colours and won a Cosmopolitan Beauty Award as well as a Gift of the Year Award. I found mine at CVS but you can also order online from their website here.

Mine is the Travalo Classic which retails for $15.99 but there are other models including the Travalo Pure for $12.99, the Travalo Excel for $19.99, and the Travalo Elite for $21.99. Each model holds between 50-65 sprays and comes in different colours. Carrying cases can also be purchased on the website.

Travalos are extremely simple and easy to use but I’ll quickly outline how to use them below.

1. Pop off the cap of a perfume bottle that covers the spray nozzle (don’t worry, this won’t break the perfume and it can be easily put back on afterwards) and turn the Travalo upside down to find the hole.

2. Align the bottom of the Travalo with the perfume bottle nozzle. Press down on the Travalo like you would to the perfume bottle with the cap on. Keep repeating until the Travalo is as full as you’d like with the perfume. Press the cap back onto the perfume.

All done! Now your Travalo is ready to ride in your purse, makeup bag, pocket, or practically anywhere. Don’t worry about the bottom being revealed like that because the perfume won’t leak at all. Travalos make great gifts for pretty much anybody and they’re a great way to lighten up the load in your everyday purse or luggage. I can’t live without mine!

Minkette

My Rebecca Minkoff order from Hautelook came in! This flash sale came at the perfect time for me because I had a bit of Hautelook credit, I’ve been eyeing the Mac and Mini Mac Clutches for about a year now, and I was in desperate need for a travel document holder since I travel quite often. The morning of the sale, I woke up at 8:00 a.m. (yes, I was a zombie) and fought for 45 minutes to an hour in order to secure the Mac Clutch in Cheetah for 50% off and the Passport Case in Grey for 53% off. Steal! Here’s my Hautelook invite link so you can sign up and snag great deals on amazing brands as well :). Also follow me on Twitter where I announce every time there’s a good sale on HauteLook.

The Mac Clutch is a great size for me since I always carry my huge wallet, my camera, two iPhones, and makeup with me. Although it’s still not very big, it’s bigger than the Mini Mac and the fun cheetah print makes for a fun bag. I also love the black hardware – it’s a nice change from the bags with gold and silver hardware I have. If you’re picky about not mixing metals, going with black hardware is a great choice to avoid that problem altogether. The interior of the bag has another cool and similar cheetah print along with some additional zipped and open pockets for storage. This also came with a handy dust bag in a print just like the interior. I can’t wait to sling this on my shoulder or across my body while running around New York!

The grey passport holder is also awesome for me because since I have government documents from four different countries, I have a million and one things to keep track of while I travel. The slots and pockets are great for holding passports, ID cards, itineraries, luggage stubs, boarding passes, public transportation tickets, money, and everything else you may need while traveling. There’s also a great little coin purse that comes with it to keep some loose change in. There’s a snap button closure to secure the passport holder and a cool zipper detailing all around the outside. This is a must-have for those who travel a lot and have a lot to keep track of.

That’s my tiny Rebecca Minkoff HauteLook haul – have a happy Friday!
